Describes the early history of the organization which was established at Oxford in 1946 at the first conference organized by members of the American National Conference of Christians and Jews and the British Council of Christians and Jews. Discusses the international conferences held from 1946-87, including those which concentrated on antisemitism (Seelisberg, 1947), the Holocaust (Hamburg, 1985 and Sigtuna, Sweden, 1980), neo-Nazism (Vienna, 1978) and Judaism in Christian education (Heppenheim, 1981). Appendix III (p. 87-96) gives the guidelines developed at Heppenheim on the portrayal of Jews and Judaism in educational and teaching materials.
